Should I Worry About Keratosis Treatment?

However, it is quite important to determine your type of keratosis before you can begin to make a choice of the correct treatment.

You might not be aware what the skin lesions are but the extra thickening of keratin which is a protein that is characteristic of this skin condition is known as keratosis. With actinic keratosis is identified by the composition of bumps that are firm, Also known as senile keratosis or solar keratosis, it comes as a result of unprotected overexposure to the sun which will begin to be seen with aging and needs treatment as early as possible to prevent any cancerous properties from emerging from the condition. It can be treated through drug therapy, lesser therapy, the use of light combined with dye, the use of high electricity current and surgery.

Seborrheic keratoses are waxy and greasy in nature and mostly do not appear in parts of the body that are exposed and you will mostly find in on the chest and the back. What you will mostly worry about is the appearance and the small skin complications that this condition brings about especially when your clothes rub against a place where it appears. The contributing factors to this condition are family history and exposure to the sun. It does not cause cancer and you can pick from various treatment options such as using laser, high electric current and surgical treatment or even the use of cryogens or curettage.

In the case of keratosis pilaris, optionally called follicular keratosis family history is the single major contributory factor in getting it. You will get rough bumps on the skin which will be red and mostly located on the outer arm and the back. The overgrowth of keratin as a result of hair follicle enclosure is the result of this condition. It requires treatment for the symptoms and the same method used to treat seborrheic keratosis will be used in its case. There are many treatment methods for the various keratosis conditions and the only way to avid these conditions is to protect the skin. Most of the conditions are not anything to worry about.
