Ulerythema Ophryogenes

Ulerythema Ophryogenes is not an uncommon skin condition.  Over time, it had been discovered that this particular skin condition also has the same kind of symptom as another skin condition known as keratosis pilaris. This particular type of skin condition can occur right from the moment the child is born. Some can even persist all through the life time of the child. Due to its link with one’s birth, it had been called infancy reticular erythema.

How does it appear?

The Ulerythema Ophryogenes does appear in form of a papule. The papule usually looks rather small and horny. It usually appears on the eyebrow of the affected person. As the child grows however, the papule tends to extend to other parts of the skin like cheek and the scalp. The legs, the hand and the chest are also not spared by this skin condition.

Who gets affected?

Several researches had been conducted into the frequency of the skin condition and it had been discovered that the male child tends to suffer from it more than the female. The skin condition had also been linked to one form of birth defect or the other in the affected child.

The genetic condition

Every form of keratosis is genetic. Since Ulerythema Ophryogenes is a kind of keratosis, it too is genetic in nature. This is to say that it can occur in a child if there is one form of problem or the other in the genetic make up of that child. In case the parent gets exposed to one form of adverse condition or the other while the child is still in pregnancy, the child may end up with Ulerythema Ophryogenes

Aggravating condition

As it had been mentioned earlier, Ulerythema Ophryogenes is strongly genetic. But some other conditions can make the thing go worse. If the person affected makes use of certain creams or lotions for his or her skin, the Ulerythema Ophryogenes may go badly. If there is consistent exposure to sunlight, things may also get very bad for the person affected.

Possible treatment

There are some treatment methods that can be used forgetting rid of Ulerythema Ophryogenes. It is however important that the skin condition is detected early enough before the treatment methods can work. The application of specific topical creams can help to put the Ulerythema Ophryogenes under control. There are some drugs too that had been specially designed of treating the skin condition.
